About Capacity Building Department
 
Capacity building is identified as "activities which strengthen the knowledge, abilities, skills and behaviour of individuals and improve institutional structures and processes such that the organization can efficiently meet its mission and goals in a sustainable way". It is, however, important to put into consideration the principles that govern community capacity building. Capacity building is a thrust area in the EMPRI. The institute conducts need-based training programmes on various environment related issues for different departments, elected representatives, stree shakti groups, and general public  viz. environmental conservation and management, bio-medical waste management, Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ),  municipal solid waste management,  hazardous waste management, rain water harvesting, E-waste management, sustainable environmental management and urban governance and administration such other issues of current relevance.  Training programs of high standards have been developed for building capacities in administration, industry and civil society.
